Intracorneale Ringsegmente verbessern die Sehqualität bei Keratokonus

Nach nach einer stabilisierenden Therapie des Keratokonus, z.B. einer zirkulären Keratotomie oder dem Iontophorese-Crosslinking können intracorneale bzw. intrastromale Ringsegmente in die Hornhaut eingesetzt werden, um die zentrale Hornhaut abzuflachen und die Sehqualität zu verbessern.

Intracorneale Ringsegmente

Intracorneale Ringsegmente (ICRS) sind zwei kleine Ringhälften, die in die Hornhaut implantiert werden, ca. ein Jahr nach einer ersten stabilisierenden Behandlung des Keratokonus oder auch zeitgleich. Die Ringsegmente stabilisieren und flachen die zentrale Hornhaut ab und können dadurch auch Kurzsichtigkeit korrigieren. Sie bestehen aus einem Polymethylmetacrylat (PMMA), aus dem seit Jahrzehnten Intraokularlinsen (IOL) hergestellt werden, also solche Linsen, die man bei der Operation des grauen Stars einsetzt.

Mit Hilfe eines Femtosekundenlasers wird zuvor ein Tunnel präpariert, in den die Ringsegmente vorsichtig hineingeschoben werden. Diese Technik ist besonders präzise und schonender als eine manuelle Implantation. Je nach Befund kann anschließend erwogen werden, eine Implantierbare Kontaktlinse einzusetzen, um die Sehqualität zu verbessern.
