The Zeiss femtosecond laser VISUMAX 800

The latest state-of-the-art surgical procedures require ultra-modern diagnosis and surgery technology. As pioneers in lens surgery, we have been applying laser lens exchange since 2012. In addition, for laser eye surgery, we focus on a new procedure without flap that has been developed by Zeiss company. We are thus considered as International Competence Centre of Carl Zeiss Meditec.

Since January 2022, Premium Eyes is one of the first 5 Zeiss reference centers worldwide to perform eye laser surgery with SMILE pro with the new VISUMAX 800 femtosecond laser.

Eye laser in 10 seconds?

The VISUMAX 800 makes it possible.

The femtosecond laser VISUMAX 800 (Zeiss)

The VISUMAX 800 is the most advanced femtosecond laser from Zeiss. Its biggest plus is its speed. Thanks to a faster repetition rate of the laser pulse of 2 MHz, it prepares the lenticule in about 10 seconds for SMILE eye laser and in about 5 seconds a flap for a Femto-LASIK. [1]

"With Carl Zeiss Meditec we have the longest experience worldwide. Due to the short laser time of about 10 seconds per eye, SMILE eye lasering with the VISUMAX 800 is even more comfortable than before."

Dr. Detlev Breyer

Your advantages at a glance:

  • Lenticle preparation in about 10 seconds per eye, flap preparation in about 5 seconds / eye.
  • Even safer - thanks to intelligent robotic assistance systems
  • Precise - due to the compensation of eye rotations (cyclotorsion) during astigmatism correction
  • Comfortable - due to rotatable arms for the laser and the surgical microscope

The laser beam of the VISUMAX is extremely focused by the high-precision optics from ZEISS, which have been tried and tested for 12 years, and thus enables previously unsurpassed control of the incision. This creates three-dimensional, curved incisions at exactly the desired depth of the cornea in just a few seconds. The correspondingly reduced docking time in combination with the anatomically shaped contact glass makes eye laser surgery with the VISUMAX 800 even more pleasant, precise and gentle.

This femtosecond laser can also be used for the flap cut in Femto-LASIK as well as for the preparation of the tunnel in the implantation of intracorneal ring segments (ICRS) for the treatment of keratoconus. Even corneal transplants are possible with it.

"The new VISUMAX 800 is almost more revolution than evolution. For me, a sensational further development."

Robotisch und komfortabel: der VISUMAX 800

Dank der beweglichen Arme des VISUMAX 800 (Zeiss) ist kein Platzwechsel mehr notwendig, um nach dem Lasern die Lentikel zu entfernen.

Improved comfort for patients and surgeons

The new design of this femtosecond laser further improves patient comfort. Especially for patients with anxiety, the free-moving laser arm is a great benefit. It is only moved into position after the patient has made herself comfortable on the couch and it appears lighter overall. After the laser procedure, the laser arm moves up to make room for the arm with the surgical microscope. The surgeon needs this to remove the lenticle manually. Finally, he can immediately check the surgical result with a glance through the integrated slit lamp.

What actually is a femtosecond laser?

A femtosecond laser is an infrared laser that emits ultrashort light pulses whose duration is in the femtosecond range: 1 fs = 10-15 s. The laser light covers a distance of only 0.3 µm within a femtosecond. That is a hundred times less than the diameter of a human hair. Since the first femtolaser was introduced into treatment in 2004, this technology has undergone constant development.

"However, even with the new VISUMAX 800, the experience and skill of the surgeon are crucial to the success of the operation."
