The innovative SCHWIND Amaris 1050RS excimer laser

The excimer laser Amaris 1050RS from the German company SCHWIND is one of the most innovative lasers with the currently highest repetition rate of 1050 Hertz compared to competitor models, which reduces the treatment time to 1.3 seconds per diopter. It can be used for the precise correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism within the scope of LASIK, Femto-LASIK and PRK as well as for the so-called Smart-Surf-TransPRK and especially for the correction of presbyopia.

The SCHWIND Amaris 1050RS is currently the fastest excimer laser on the market. It offers numerous options for laser eye correction and customized presbyopia treatment. We were particularly convinced by these advantages:

  • Optimal smoothing of the cornea thanks to the Automatic Fluence Level Adjustment (AFLA) developed by Schwind, a process that ensures a balanced relationship between the number of pulses and energy input.

  • Gentle ablation even at the highest speed thanks to a new thermal control process (ITEC) that sorts the laser pulses spatially and temporally. As a result, the cornea heats up only minimally.

"The lower the biological interaction with the corneal tissue, the better the wound healing."

Comfortable, fast, precise and safe: All advantages for patients at a glance

  • comfortable patient couch and movable laser arm
  • at 1050 Hz, the Schwind Amaris 1050RS achieves an unsurpassed repetition rate
  • shorter treatment time due to the extremely short ablation rate of only 1.3 seconds per diopter
  • fast but gentle ablation of the cornea with minimal heat generation
  • especially smooth and tissue-friendly corneal ablation due to the extremely small spot size and the super-Gaussian beam profile
  • more safety due to high-precision eye tracker, which compensates eye movements in up to 7 dimensions
  • the contactless online pachymetry (corneal thickness measurement) and the integrated slit lamp additionally increase your safety

Even when our eyes fixate on a point, miniature movements with a comparatively low amplitude (below 10 angular minutes) still occur. This is because rods and cones of the retina - like other nerve cells - react mainly to changes. If the eye is shown a static image, the perceived image gradually disappears because the receptors fatigue. The eye tracker of the Schwind Amaris 1050RS excimer laser actively compensates for any eye movement in up to 7 dimensions:

  1. horizontal shifts
  2. vertical displacements
  3. horizontal rolling movements
  4. vertical rolling movements
  5. static and dynamic cyclotorsion
  6. axial displacements (movements upwards and downwards)
  7. time

Precise SCHWIND diagnostics for individual treatment planning

The diagnostic systems from SCHWIND precisely and conveniently record all diagnostic data necessary for customized treatment planning - including important data for lens implantation. All data can be compared with each other for a reliable assessment. They can then be exported directly to the AMARIS laser and are thus immediately available for treatment.
