Our ophthalmologists are doing research and publishing on new surgical techniques in the network of the Universitäts-Augenklinik Heidelberg

Our head surgeons Dr. Detlev Breyer, Prof. Dr. Hakan Kaymak and Dr. Karsten Klabe perform their own research projects, develop new procedures and report on their results at international professional congresses eight to ten times a year. In addition, they are network partners of the research center International Vision Correction Research Center (IVCRC) at the eye clinic of the UniversitätsKlinikum Heidelberg.

To enable us to perform studies and retrospective investigations, we have established our research institute for international innovative ophthalmological surgery (IIO) in which our colleagues are responsible for the scientific documentation of our work and even present it at international congresses.

We are a founding member of the research network of the eye clinic at the UniversitätsKlinikum Heidelberg

Our close co-operation with Prof. Auffarth, the medical director of the eye clinic at the UniversitätsKlinikum Heidelberg, has become a true partnership over time. At his instigation, the research center “International Vision Correction Research Center” (IVCRC) belonging to the clinic has founded a network we also belong to: IVCRV.net. In the field of clinical research, it has the following fields of expertise: Cataract surgery, intraocular lenses, aftercataracts, refractive surgery, corneal diseases, ocular pharmacology and establishing various registers for health services research. With its cutting-edge equipment and experienced team of doctors, IVCRC.net offers a platform for more effective involvement of pharmaceutic studies for health care service at the highest level.

Our lecturing activities

Within the scope of our lecturing activities, we are exchanging ideas with our peers from all over the world to be up to date about the most recent developments. We are presenting new surgical techniques live at large congresses and train our peers in them. In addition, we are co-operating e.g. with manufacturers of surgical tools and technology and advise them in the development of their products.
