Dr. Breyer’s specialties are the newest methods in eye laser and lens surgery

Two of the most important criteria for the selection of a doctor or surgeon are their experience and their familiarity with the newest scientific findings and surgical techniques. As one of its pioneers, Dr. Breyer contributed to the development of the so-called micro incision technique for the treatment of presbyopia and cataracts. In 2006, he implanted a toric multifocal lens through a minimally invasive incision of only 1.5 to 1.6 mm in a live operation at a congress. In 2012, Dr. Breyer was one of the first surgeons using a femtosecond laser in refractive lens exchange.

He is among those pioneers in laser surgery on the whole world offering the innovative ReLEx® SMILE eye laser surgery technique with the VisuMax femtosecond laser (Zeiss) since 2011, and since 2022 of the new SMILE® pro with the VISUMAX 800.

Dr. Breyer is a LASIK trainer according to the guidelines of the Kommission für Refraktive Chirurgie, KRC (commission for refractive surgery), and has performed more than 50,000 operations independently.

Patient reviews

“Medical art in absolute perfection.”

„One year ago, my ophthalmologist told me that I needed a cataract operation. (...). While doing research online, I also found the website of Augenchirurgie Clinic Breyer, Kaymak & Klabe in Düsseldorf. I especially liked the detailed explanations (with videos) of the professionally designed website. – I was curious and wanted to meet Dr. Breyer personally; so, I made an appointment for a preliminary examination.

Even when making the appointment and during the examinations, I was very pleased by the professional manner and pleasant conduct of all staff members. It was a really convincing attribute for a well-managed practice. I learned that it wasn’t all tinsel and glitter during the thorough preliminary examinations, for which a large selection of high-quality ophthalmological technology was available. Finally, the most important aspect is the doctor’s skills, of course. I was able to have great trust in Dr. Breyer due to the very pleasant and thorough consultations in particular.

I then decided to choose a surgical technique which is particularly gentle to the eyes and is performed with the help of a femtosecond laser.

The operation was “absolutely” painlessly, and even for particularly anxious persons, there is no need to undergo the stress of general anesthesia. I was most impressed by the fact that I did not feel any pain or foreign body sensation in the eye at any time but that I have obtained an absolutely gigantic visual acuity with great contrast and a completely new perception, in particular of the color “white”.

“The doctor who has given me a second life by ICL implantation!”

„For more than 10 years, I was looking for a physician to operate my eyes since I suffered from extreme myopia. No one was sufficiently competent in this field to perform this operation. In Dr. Breyer, I have found the doctor who has given me a second life, a visual acuity of more than 100% and happiness. I’m now able to do all kinds of sport, I can go diving, and all of that without these bothersome lenses/glasses. My heartfelt gratefulness and compliments to Dr. Breyer and his team!“
